- All competitors, their teachers and parents are required to adhere to our venues general rules. Failing to do so could mean that you are asked to leave the venue.
- Doors open 45 minutes prior to the start of session and locks 20 minutes after the session has ended.
- No phone entries. Full payment must accompany entry.
- Age shall be determined as at the 1st of the month of the competition. Proof of age must be provided if requested in case there is a dispute.
- No competitor may compete out of their age group, except in duo, trio, and group classes. Competitors must compete in the class of their oldest group member.
- Time limits must be strictly adhered to and will be enforced (details are on syllabi)
- Only names of dances included on entry forms will be printed in the Programme and on Reports. Names of dances cannot be added at any time after the closing of entries.
- Only competitors 14 years and over are permitted to perform classical variations.
- The competitions are not open to professional performers. A professional is any performer who has achieved this status by qualification or experience, and whose income and chosen career require being recognised as a professional.
- The Committee reserves the right to combine, divide or cancel classes and scholarships according to entries received and will refund where applicable. Unless otherwise stated, the competitions will be organised and run under the Society’s usual well-established rules and conditions, a copy of which can be obtained on request from the Secretary, which will be sent by e-mail.
- Stage - no person other than officials, and such competitor or competitors as the Stage Manager/Convenor directs, will be allowed backstage or at the side of the stage. Stage Manager/Convenor may allow some flexibility if requested but not during Impromptus, Championships or National Awards.
- Protests - to be entered in writing within one hour of the Judge’s Award, and to be accompanied by a deposit of $20 as evidence of good faith. Deposit to be returned if protest upheld.
- All competitors, spectators and other personnel involved, do so at their own risk, and the Society takes no responsibility for loss of or damage to personal property.
- Videoing or photography of other competitors are not permitted unless permission has been granted by the competitors parent/guardian.
- Tap competitors must wear tap socks when they are back stage.
- Face wipes are not provided.
- Wanganui Competition Society reserves the rights of applying and interpreting the rules of the Society. Decisions made by the Wanganui Competition Society Committee are final.
- Health & Safety Competitors and competition attendees must abide by the Health & Safety rules of the competition and the competition venue. If competitors are found to be breaching these rules, the Committee reserves the right to ask competitors to remove themselves from the competition venue.
- By entering this competition – Competitors, Teachers, and those entering on behalf of Competitors declare that they understand the rules of this competition and will abide by them.
Music:
All music is required to be handed in before the beginning of each session. Failure to do so could mean that the music is not accepted. Please see the Stage Manager should you have any special requirements, such as using the same CD for a regular class, and again for a championship class. Please present CDs in a protective case. CDs must be of good quality (not rewriteable) with only one piece of music on each CD. We are thankful for the use of Royal Wanganui Opera House Sound System and we take care to ensure the music plays correctly, however, we cannot take any responsibility for quality or volume issues. If there is an operator error, the adjudicator will be advised and the competitor may be given the opportunity to perform again. Music must be presented to the stage manager/assistant and must be clearly marked with class and item number.

Private Videos and Photos:
You are only allowed to video/photograph your own child, and only video/photograph other competitors with permission for the parent/caregiver.
The Wanganui Competitions Society takes photos for the use of Facebook and the Website advertising. Any competitor who does not want to be photographed or videoed by WCS for the Society's purposes, needs to let a committee member know.
Wanganui Competitions Society Inc does not accept any responsibility whatsoever for any misuse regarding the filming of other teachers/parents or competitors performances or costumes etc.
General Information:
-Competitors will be issued with a free pass and must be able to present this to admit them free to all sessions.
-Parents and teachers need to be able to present their passes. If you cannot show your pass, you will be required to purchase another pass unless your name is on the list.
-Programmes are emailed, if you wish to have an posted programme, you must select it in your entry.
-Administration fees are non-refundable, entry fees may be refunded under extenuating circumstances at the discreation of the committee. In the event of injury/illness, a medical certificate is required.
-Wanganui Competitions Society Mugs can be pre-ordered with your entry. Please collect your mug from the administration desk at the competition. Please refer to the Merchandise Section of our website to view photos of colour options. Pink (Ballet), Aqua (Modern), Purple (Tap – not full dancer), Blue (Cello), Red (Singer), Green (Piano), Orange (Speech) or the Group.
INDIVIDUAL COMPETITORS & GROUPS: Enter via our online system RedFridgeDoor – paper entries cannot be accepted for entries. Multiple group entries are now able to be accepted via RedFridgeDoor. You cannot enter troupe/group entries under individual competitors, they must be entered separately and you will need to pay the admin fee for both entries.
- Entry fees are payable by debit/credit card at the end of your entry. Or, by direct credit to: 03 0791 0552476 00 (use competitor’s full name as reference). Payment of fees MUST accompany entries. Your entry will not be completed until full payment has been received. This must be paid within 14 days of entry or your entry will be null and void.
- Please provide us with your full postal address.
- We recommend that you pre-purchase Festival Passes with Competitors Entries. Once entries are closed you will not be able to purchase passes until you are at the Festival. Prices for passes are available on our website under ‘Dance Competitions.’
- Passes will no longer be posted out to competitors, instead, you can collect your passes from the front desk of the Opera House.
- Once we have received your entry, RedFridgeDoor will automatically e-mail you with confirmation. Please check your e-mails after entering to ensure your entry is correct and keep for future reference. If there are any errors in your entry, please contact us by e-mail as soon as possible. If you which to add or correct classes, we can make those changes for you, if you enter again, you are required to pay a second admin fee.
- Programmes are now e-mailed and you no longer need to purchase them. If you wish to have a physical copy, programmes are $10 each including postage – please select this option at the bottom of the entry under ‘extras.’
- Competitors entering in Duos – only one competitor needs to enter the duo, please provide the Duo Partner Name and date of birth as requested on RedFridgeDooR.
- If you do not receive acknowledgement, please notify us no later than seven days after entry closing date. After this time, lost or missing entries cannot be accepted.
