2022 Competition & Festival INFORMATION
1912-2022 110 years of wcs
tap, ballet & modern soloist competition
12th - 14th october 2022
In recognition of our Senior & Intermediate dancers, many of whom are coming to an end of their competition years, we are prioritising their performances. For many, this may be the last chance they have to perform before going to university, overseas, or finishing dancing competitions. Senior & Intermediate dancers can perform their solo routines in Ballet, Modern & Tap. Entries depending, this competition will run for three days, with a day allocated to each genre. If we do not reach full entries, some days may be merged. For this one competition, we are choosing to support our senior and intermediate students to ensure they can all have one big “last dance”. They have lost countless opportunities to perform over the past two years due to covid-10 and deserve to have their moment. By doing so, This will also allow those who are PACANZ nominated to perform their routines at the Royal Whanganui Opera House, right before heading to nationals in palmerston north.
Tiny Tots and Junior dancers will miss ONE competition out of the hundreds throughout the North Island they are able to attend. We understand it may be disappointing for some, however we know that with their many years ahead of them, the Tiny Tots and Juniors have plenty of time to perform in other competitions. (Remembering that they had the opportunity to dance in April 2022 and will again in April 2023 in Whanganui).
There is no troupe day this October, with invited troupes/studios/schools to perform at our 110th Birthday Concert!
